About Our Publishing Service

YouWriteOn.com, the UK's most popular Art Council-sponsored site for budding writers, has teamed up for a unique partnership with independent publisher Legend Press to offer a bespoke service to fill the traditional gap between producing a book and making it a success. Our service is available to all writers worldwide.

Too often self-published books, however good the quality of content, fall short as they are not laid-out or presented to a higher enough industry standard, or are not promoted or sold into the right places. Legend Press will work with writers to provide professionally typeset books that will be approved by the industry, carefully set with expertise as opposed to some generic 'DIY Publishing' systems, as well as use of its top-quality cover service. In addition they can provide full, unique and tailored packs detailing every aspect of where and how the book can be promoted and sold. This is a new and unique development in self-publishing, a service that will cover the all-important gap between producing a book and making it a success.

Publishing Your Book – Your Expectations of Success and our Successes Many writers have different aims and expectations when publishing their books. They may publish for fun and to share with others, or to help promote their opportunities for mainstream publishing success. In all cases, it is beneficial to have realistic and practical expectations to get the most when considering publishing.

In 2007, YouWriteOn published Bufflehead Sisters by Patricia J. De Lois, one of our Book of the Year Award winners. Available only online, the novel went on to be named Book of the Year by leading newspaper the Press Herald, ahead of a former Pulitzer Prize winner in the author's state of
Maine , which has a population of over one million. The author was stocked by bookstores and received an offer of representation from a leading literary agent as a result.

Using a different example, YouWriteOn published a cartoon book based on their staff's cartoons, which appear in London Lite – one of
London 's biggest circulation newspapers. The book was published for fun, didn't break any sales records high or low, and the writers enjoyed the experience of having their own book to hold in their hands, following the ups and downs on the Amazon book charts, and offering as a gift to relatives! Whether you wish to publish for fun, or to advance your opportunities for mainstream success, publishing can be a great experience when combined with realistic aims and expectations.

That’s why we’re so excited to launch this unique service – one that can revolutionise the self-publishing market and offer the necessary platform to ensure the aims you have for your book are achieved.

Ebook Publishing  Ebooks are becoming increasingly accessible and YouWriteOn will explore introducing this medium in the future. At present, the new breed of devices are too expensive to have an immediate affect on the traditional publishing industry. That will come later, when competing devices arrive on the market and the price comes down. YouWriteOn will look at introducing this medium at this time when it is of most benefit to both author and reader.
