How to Order a Critique

YouWriteOn's fees and manuscript guidelines and terms and conditions are listed below. To order a professional critique, click on contact us or email youwriteon@legendpress.co.uk and email us with details of your three preferred literary professionals. View our Literary Professionals. Your email should also include:

Your name, your book title, and the genre of your manuscript (thriller, science fiction, literary fiction, etc) and any specific area that you would like your reviewer to address
The length of the manuscript that you wish critiqued, see our manuscript critique service fees below and specify how many double spaced pages you wish critiqued
Your manuscript submission must be in 12 point font, double spaced, and unbound with each page numbered

Length of Critique and Completion Times

A professional critique is typically between 5 to 10 pages depending on the story and length, and completed between 4 to 8 weeks. Once we have received your email we will contact you with the availability of your chosen literary professionals and then email you with details of how to make payment and forward your manuscript. When payment is received we will then forward your manuscript to your chosen literary professional. Please see below for our critique service fees and terms and conditions.

Expedited Critique Service - Completed Within 7 to 14 Days

You can also contact us about our Expedited Critique Service if you would like your critique completed within 7 to 14 days. There is a 50% extra fee on the basic prices listed below for this expedited service.

Critique Fees structure

The following fees are in United Kingdom pounds sterling for UK Residents. If you are an overseas E.C. writer and are interested in a professional critique, we prefer payment by bank transfer and we require an £8 bank charge payment in addition to the fees listed below.

Fiction Prices

1-2 page synopsis and up to 30 double-spaced pages or maximum of 10,000 words       £89

1-2 page synopsis and 31 to 50 double-spaced pages       £149

1-2 page synopsis and 51 to 100 double-spaced pages       £249

1-2 page synopsis and 101 to 200 double-spaced pages       £299

1-2 page synopsis and longer than 200 pages: £1.50 per double spaced page for the first 300 pages and then £1.00 per page thereafter. £1.50 per page for first 200 pages +£1.00 per page thereafter

Professional critique service terms and conditions

Please note that these are are the terms and conditions you agree to if you wish to use our critique service:

The critique fee is for a one-off literary professional report. If it is considered by both YouWriteOn and the client that any point in a report needs clarification we will endeavour to obtain this from the literary professional reader. We will always be as helpful as we can in this respect, however the fee is for a one-off report only as described
We will acknowledge received work via email
The correct fee must be forwarded first for the literary professional to read your work
We will ask you to submit your work either by email or post depending on the length of the work, we cannot take responsibility for work lost in the post, so never send the last copy of your work. For posted manuscripts, we cannot return work without an adequate SAE provided and correct postage. If you choose not to provide an SAE then unreturned manuscripts will be recycled
Your manuscript submission must be in 12 point font, double spaced, and unbound with each page numbered
We will only make recommendations to our affiliated agents or publishers if your literary professional feels your work is ready for submission. We will always discuss this with you first.
Your submission will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Your critique will usually be forwarded by YouWriteOn to you within 4-8 weeks, this is the normal time taken but on occasion unpredictable events may effect the usual timeline, and the timeline cannot be guaranteed
The copyright of the report remains with YouWriteOn.com, and our permission should be sought first before quoting from the report in any form or media, for example, to agents, publishers or on websites of any type
The Expedited Critique Service above means you can expect your critique to be completed in 7 to 14 days, this is available for 50% extra on the basic prices listed above
We reserve the right to return fees and your work if a suitable editor can not be found
The copyright of your work remains with you at all times
