Is anyone else out there suffering from it? I have had plenty of time to write just recently but I can't break out of this gloom. Cheer me up someone.

Okay . . . A man walks into a bar with three ducks. The barman says to him: 'You can't bring those ducks in here.' 'But these are special ducks,' the man replies. 'They can talk.' 'Go on then,' says the barman. Prove it.' The first duck hops up onto the bar. 'What's your name?' the barman asks. 'Tom,' the duck replies. 'And what have you been doing today, Tom?' 'Oh, I've had a great day, in and out of puddles.' The barman's impressed. 'Okay.' He turns to the second duck. 'What's your name and what have you been up to today?' 'I'm Dick,' The second duck replies. 'And I've had a fantastic day, going in and out of puddles.' The barman turns to the third duck. 'So, if he's Tom and he's Dick, I guess you must be Harry.' The duck gives him a baleful look. 'No. My name's Puddles and I've had a bloody horrible day.' x

Ooh, me too, Esta. I'm a right misery at the moment. I think it's a combination of not enough daylight and the thought that another year has gone without really getting anywhere. Still, Spring is coming. A new year and endless possibilities. That's what I tell myself anyway! Beth

Sammy - Nice one!
Xmas Cracker: What did the inflatable headmaster of the inflatable school say to the inflatable pupil who brought a pin into the classroom?
"You've let me down, you've let the school down, but worst of all, you let yourself down."
I've always been told this is the point when you sit and write. Don't accept a blank page. Even if you throw it away another day, just write something.
I also visit Parosweb, a set of webcams on my favourite greek island. Watch the boats arrive in the harbour and think of having a coffee in the imagined peace of a tourist free cafe.
At the moment, the sun is shining and I've put the motorcycle battery on charge in case I get a chance to go for a spin. Surely, spring is about to sprung?

Thanks for the jokes and empathy guys. I've managed a smile which is a happy development. And I'm sitting at my lap top and am going to WRITE SOMETHING - but Oh - it's like gathering mist and packing it into a paper bag and I'm Sooo weary and lethargic. But I'll believe you when you say spring will come again - but are you sure?

On a more serious note, I felt just like this at the start of the month. I struggled to get motivated. But, like most things, it passed. I woke up towards the end of this week suddenly feeling more positive . . . despite the sleet and rain and fog! Actually, I often find myself writing more in winter. Dark nights and crappy weather suit dark thrillers and horror. In the summer, I want to be out at the pub or drinking home-made Margaritas in the garden! Chocolate, coffee and red wine are my solutions to the winter blues. But then, they're my solution to just about everything really!! x

Buy some tap shoes. No-one can stay un-cheered wearing tap shoes. I've just taken delivery of a new pair and I haven't tap danced for around thirty years. I'm so excited. If you want to get some writing done, look for a competition with a close deadline. MM
