Hi folks. I'm having a problem right now since my story takes place in different time frames withing the main character's life. We are told to show rather than tell, and I know it has to be a balance of each, but how do other writers deal with fast forwarding the story without a lot of boring 'tell'
Thank you in advance.

Some head the sections with dates. Some simply deal with the problem by isolated episodes. It depends on the context. But you know that. I find no problem with these tools if done properly and with due restraint.
