Hello all

I wonder if anyone can help me with a question.

In January I was in the top ten for just over three weeks, which then passed to the first two weeks of February - almost six weeks in total. I assumed that because of this (25 days or more) I would pass into the Bestseller Chart this month. But I haven't.

I see the rules note 25 days over a three month period. I've fulfilled the 25 days but in a two month period. Will I go through next month when the three months are up? Or do I have to be in the top ten again this month to qualify? I'm not sure how it all works.

Thanks in advance for your help.

hey jo

i had a similar situation last month - 'i think the sun is shining' had spent over 25 days over 2 months in top 10, but didn't move to bestseller chart...i then realised the rule means 25 days over the course of a full 3 months. therefore, you should be a bestseller yourself on april 1st!

dan

oh, and well done to all march top 10ers / bestsellers!

Thanks, Dan. I thought (and hoped) that might be the case. Looking forward to seeing it move over next month! Do I need to keep assigning credits in the meantime? I was quite happy with what I had received and was going to leave off adding any more while I work on my next project.

Congrats to you for moving over to the BS chart, too. Well-deserved and well done.

thanks jo, appreciated.

whether you should attach credits depends on whether you want to remain in the top 10, as you'll drop out unless you add one per week. i decided to do that, but it did slow down my other pursuits! if you don't stay top 10 you'll still go bestseller because of your time on the chart.

good luck!

You can just drop out of the TT and rest at number 11 for 30 days or so after you added your last credit. I may let myself slide as I've clocked up over 25 days and need to get on with other things, like making a living. I've had to resort to living on cake...

Yes, I can pretty much dance with one hand.

Thanks for the reply, Sue. I'd already dropped out of the TT. Some time last week. I think I0m in at number 14 ir 15 at the mo. I'd decided not to attach more credits for now, so if this doesn't affect my BS chart move then I'll leave it at that. Like you, I need to get on with other things or my next novel will never make it past the planning stage.

Thanks for the advice.

The only danger with deliberately dropping out of the Top Ten is that you don't always drop straight back in again immediately you add a new credit.

I had two stories at Numbers One and Two this time last year, which I allowed to drop to 11 and 12 (I just didn't have the time to keep "feeding" them with credits, especially as I had two new stories on the go). I added new credits on the evening of 31st March - but they didn't jump back into the Top Ten until 2nd April. So I missed out on the Best Sellers that month with both of them. I never had any explanation for this - I know the credits went on in good time, because one of them even earned a review that same day. And there ain't no appeal when this sort of thing happens, so do be very careful if you're planing to play the rules this way!

I'll see you in the Best Sellers next month, Jo ... I've clocked up my 25 days too, but, like you, over only two months so far. I guess the reason for making it three months is to give highly rated stories another month of trying for the Top Five and a pro crit.

Thanks for the advice, Athene, and how strange about your stories. A lesson learnt I suppose.

See you in the BS chart next month!
