I think if you are shifting a lot of copies you will probably get a better contract elsewhere.

No mention of an advance.

Have just read the article. Wonder which title sold 1000 copies . . .

'Chronicles of Joya' do you think?

I think its wonderful that an independent POD system can hold up its head. One of the things that has most interested media interviewers is the departure that has been made from traditional publishing and marketing. It hasn't been hard to convince them that this is the cutting edge of publishing, especially with e-books, kindle and espresso machines having quite a lot of coverage. It all fits with the new age. And as for online marketing, they seem fascinated with the idea that facebook, forums and genre websites, myspace, blogging twitter, even youtube, can draw potential buyers and readers into the marketplace.

On the subject of marketplace, has anyone seen any sign yet of the October royalties statements?

I don't know if the Amazon charts are any indication of sales overall, but if you have a look, out of the YWO books, Kate Hanney's Safe is up at 231,970, Rosalind Winter's Ready Steady Dig is at 243,240 and C O Joya is at 424,122. I checked several others that I know of and Kate's appears to be a higher chart rating than anyone elses. I know it's doing very well, so maybe it's the top seller, so far. Anyone else know anything different?

Alas, I'm pretty sure it's not me...

I got a statement yesterday, and up until the end of June sales through booksellers plus sales to schools that I've supplied myself, probably add up to a total of around 400.

So unless hundreds of copies of SAFE have been sold in the last three months, I'm way down the list.

Well-done to whoever it is though - it's a great achievement.

Kate
