I using Microsoft 'Word' for Apple on a pretty recent Apple computer.
Two odd things have happened, one thing seemingly consequent to the other.
I had a lot of work stored in Arial font on an entirely Windows laptop. It had been scanned in from work I had written, lost on disk but still had a hard copy.
At one stage, I did a 'Select All' and changed the font to Times New Roman. I did not notice that some but not all, of the double and single quotation marks had not changed.
Now the book is being edited by Johnny Vee, (AKA Hawkeye) who many of you know, and he has spotted this. So, I did another search and replace and it seems to have worked.
BUT now when I use the single quote mark as in 'it's' or M'sieu it inserts a space so that it reads 'it 's' or 'M 'sieu' which is the wrong side of very annoying.
Is there a computer buff out there who can help me?
Please?

Thank you Joe. Unfortunately I have lost touch with Colin Powell, a relative, and thus with Stormin'Norman.
But your contribution is, as ever, appreciated.
Thank you,

Amazing what French hors (d'ouevres I presume) can do.... So you are longer hors de combat... Mmm, yes you've got me there, and I'm kicking. Incidentally, and trying to reimpose myself, or even recompose myself, did you know that in less polite circle in France 'hors d'oeuvres' are often called 'amuses gueles', or 'gob teasers'. And when I checked that I had typed 'anuses gueles' which would have started quite a few comments. Can't be too careful when your dealing with writers can you?

Just an addendum - be careful when using replace: as in Replace (blankspace)' with '. It screws up all mid sentence dialogue and you have to do a review grammar check anyway.
