Hi there, I am new to this site and am enjoying navigating my way through! I have uploaded a chapter and am busy reviewing other chapters (which has been brilliant - so many great writers out there!). My question is: I have three reading credits that have been sat there for days and not assigned to anyone and one credit that has been assigned to someone for days. Is this because the reading credits get distributed to members one at a time? Oh my goodness, it is nerve racking waiting!!! Or do you get used to it after a while?

Hi Jehan,
I am relatively new here too (about 6 weeks) and came out all guns blazing, uploading about 15 credits. It soon became apparent that this wasn't helping and I even read somewhere that having one credit at a time may speed things up.
You're right though: that is seems only one reader is assigned your work at a time. They have 4 days to complete the review so there is luck involved. Some people will review straight away, some will review at the end of the 4 days or, in the worst case scenario, some will hold onto your work for 4 days and then not review which means your chapters have to be reassigned.
I have had 7 reviews in 6 weeks I think, but I noticed someone the other day got 4 in about 4 days, so there's luck involved. With me, maybe people don't want to read what I have written! Really good luck. I'll have a look at your page now.

Just had a look and apart from a slight lull since your last review, you seem to be getting them reasonably quickly. One more and you can appear in the charts (but not the top 10 until you have 8 reviews). Also once you have 4 (I think) you can then see the breakdown of your marks.
When you get to 5 you can remove your lowest mark which will be indicated to you. I was advised not to do this too early as there could always be a stinker around the corner. Maybe better to wait till you get 10 and then remove 2.
Anyway, I am quite new at this whole thing myself so someone else may give you better advice.
Your reviews seem to be excellent so far. Good luck!

Hi Chhimi10, thank you so much for your feedback and great advice. I was thinking that maybe I needed to slow down with my reading assignments but am so impatient and in fact am enjoying reading others peoples stuff. All the best with your work - what are you writing?

Thanks so much Jehan.
Yes I was just the same. I did about 4 reviews a day and now am kicking myself for getting the marking wrong. I appear to have been too strict!
Since then, since I have so many credits anyway, I have done quite a few free wills. This is where you just choose to read whatever you want and make comments if you like, but they don't count as credits.
Now I am trying to get back to the books I was given over Christmas, but when an opening comes I will have a look at your work. It looks fascinating.
Thanks again. I hope what I have said is correct and if you have any questions let me know.

Where are you from? I live in Sri Lanka, where there are a few Jehans.

What do you mean by 'getting the marking wrong'. I live in Melbourne but am originally from Egypt.

My name is typically Egyptian - so many of us in Egypt! It is a female's name, though I know it is a male's name in Sri Lanka and India... I think it means Prince?

I just marked a bit too harshly. To get an idea I looked at other reviews and the few I saw (where they had quoted their marks in the text) were a bit stingy. I've since noticed people are generally more generous.
I also spent too much time finding what was wrong (again what I thought I was meant to do from the reviews I had seen)! Oh well, now I'm more positive.
Yes that's right, Jehan is a boy's name here although I did work with a Kenyan female Jehan once.
