Good morning authors all,
I have recently submitted the first two chapters of my novel.
My concern is, (and this has been reflected in some of the reviews received) that my novel is comprised of 36 chapters (200,000 words) so the first two chapters cannot begin to reflect the progress of the novel. The first half of the novel is set in Victorian England and the latter in Australia with all the differences concomitant thereto. Should I submit chapter 1 and then a later chapter?
I would really value your opinions.
Many thanks,
foryoubyv

Hi and welcome, to possibly feature in the Top Ten, opening chapters should be the opening chapters in sequence only between 6,000 to 10,000 words. The idea being that this equates to the amount of opening chapters that agents and publishers consider. You can submit non-opening chapters for feedback, but they are not eligible for the Top Ten. Good luck!
