I read What Was Lost by Catherine O'Flynn a few months ago and was really pleased to see it's made the shortlist for the Booker prize. I usually don't understand or enjoy many of the books that get nominated but this is a great story by a new author (I believe it's her first novel) published by a small firm here in Birmingham.

Just thought I'd bring it to your attention as I think it's well worth a look.
