Just finish reading a new biography of the novelist A.J. Cronin, written by Alan Davies.
In my opinion Cronin is one of the great 20th century story tellers, but was sneered at by the literary critics of his time - probably because he could weave a good tale, in clear prose, and in an unpretentious way.
Anyone else read his work? What do you think?
If you don't know his writing, you might try 'The Stars Look Down', 'Crusader's Tomb', or 'Three Loves' for starters.
