Fail 'em and move on. Tough love but they may benefit in the long run. Would you feel any less chagrined if you went to all the work of a 1000 word review, only for it to be instantly deleted by the writer? Let your review babies go... I know your sentiments, Sulcus. Trust me, I feel them 10 fold, being the one who just wrote the damn review. My intentions are altruistic, believe it or not. When I delete it, tomorrow, it'll go straight to some other poor reviewer. Since the writing hasn't been reviewed yet, I believe it has priority. (Whenever I upload something new it gets assigned immediately, I've noticed.) This seems to happen to me quite a bit (failing questions). If it's also happening to other reviewers, no wonder I see so many 100 word reviews floating about the place. Do you think the possibility of failing the questions contributes to this tendency? I think so, probably. As does the 20 percent chance of removal but I've been there already, several times... Rah rah rah. I've now let my review baby go. She'll probably delete it. But she would've definitely deleted it had she also got my marks. Ha. And it's worth pointing out, a lengthy review is never wasted. The more honest I can be with other people's work, the easier it becomes to be honest with my own. Hi, LLL General teeth-gnashing all round. As you can see, I finally managed to weave my way through the flawed test. My review ran to 1,123 words, before I added the P.S. about her test, which I HOPE she has the sense to read and act on. It's the time factor which really annoys me. We all have busy lives - and might, perhaps, like to be getting on with our own writing. I wasn't happy to throw away more than 3 hours of my life. Added to that, this is a writer with real potential, but who needs to look at a number of technical points of craft, so I took a lot of trouble to explain these. Marc's right. If a writer can't devise 5 simple questions on a short extract . . . ! Ann

11.28 pm. I finally got my mitts on a copy of Bufflehead Sisters and am thoroughly hooked. Okay so I'm multitasking. But I am on the cusp of Gen Y.

This is a pet hate of mine too. I recently reviewed someone's and the questions were all about how good the writing was! The answers had to brilliant each time, even though I didn't think so. It was annoying, but the person involved emailed me and said they were new to the site and didn't know how it worked. I've had to let other reviews go on several occasions because I couldn't find the colour of someones eyes etc. Grrr If you send the review via email your hard work may be appreciated but you'd not get any credits. And I didn't think FW reviews give you credits, either?
