Vicki, I've spent over three hours reviewing Growing to Goodbye, but can't post the review because two of your questions are unanswerable. The number of guests left doesn't fit the facts (14 guests minus one murdered). And THERE IS NO OFFICER FROM THE MET. Indeed there is no one called Rogers or Cumberland. Please sort this out before the review window expires and all my work is wasted.

Ann, if she doesn't respond in time, you can still send your review when she does. Just use the free will option and it will turn into an assignment review. If she doesn't see this, can you email her? Otherwise, ask Ted to let her know. Sue

Thanks, Sue, but her email address is private. I've emailed Ted, but just got an automatic reply. I didn't know about the FW 'exchange'. Perhaps by tomorrow something will be sorted. It's so frustrating!

I have now succeeded in posting my review by guessing the answers to these two questions. Failed the first time, passed the second. I'm still really annoyed!

Update: I finally posted this review by:
a) answering the three accurate questions
b) guessing the other two
c) failing
d) changing one of the 'guessed' answers
e) passing (whew!)
What a waste of time.
I then checked to see whether anyone else had managed to post a review for this, and found only a FW. Presumably others have failed the flawed test.

Is there a bug in the system or is it me just seeing bugs where they don't exist? (again)

I just had the exact same experience, with a new member who hasn't had any reviews yet.

Sniff.

What do I do with my lengthy review when I can't answer the questions? Why not let us just send a free will, Ted, to let the reviewer know they've completely stuffed up? (Or is it a bug? I CAN'T have got her questions wrong.) I reviewed a brand new member, went to great lengths to couch my review in very gentle language and now...

Hemmie, have you discovered the message boards yet? If so, drop me a line and I'll email you my 1000 word review.

I'm tempted to take up drinking.

OR OR OR

The only solution I can think of at this stage... Can I have a volunteer give her a free will on my behalf? (I'm not allowed, now I've failed her test.) I'd have to email you my review.

Not that I really give a shit at this hour of the night but this woman is not ever gonna get any reviews otherwise.

Software bugs aside, if a writer hasn't the wit nor control of their material to be able to fashion 5 questions BASED ON THE POSTED MATERIAL, it doesn't augur too well for their attention to detail come the time for cover letters and synopses. Fail 'em and move on. Tough love but they may benefit in the long run.

Would you feel any less chagrined if you went to all the work of a 1000 word review, only for it to be instantly deleted by the writer? Let your review babies go...
"A,B&E", "Not In My Name" and "52FF" (flash fiction anthology) all available on Amazon Kindle

I know your sentiments, Sulcus. Trust me, I feel them 10 fold, being the one who just wrote the damn review.

My intentions are altruistic, believe it or not. When I delete it, tomorrow, it'll go straight to some other poor reviewer. Since the writing hasn't been reviewed yet, I believe it has priority. (Whenever I upload something new it gets assigned immediately, I've noticed.) This seems to happen to me quite a bit (failing questions). If it's also happening to other reviewers, no wonder I see so many 100 word reviews floating about the place. Do you think the possibility of failing the questions contributes to this tendency? I think so, probably. As does the 20 percent chance of removal but I've been there already, several times... Rah rah rah.

I've now let my review baby go. She'll probably delete it. But she would've definitely deleted it had she also got my marks.

Ha.

And it's worth pointing out, a lengthy review is never wasted. The more honest I can be with other people's work, the easier it becomes to be honest with my own.
