An agent has asked me to e-mail my entire manuscript.

Any advice on how to structure it would be greatly appreciated. As one document, or seperate chapters? Should I go to the end of the page before I begin a new chapter as if it was a hard copy?

Any more tips greatly ppreciated as this is my first time!

I've only ever emailed it as one document. You can send it as an attachment.

Good luck!

I would send it as an attachment, and make the document exactly as you would if submitting on paper, because it's likely the agent will print it. So double-spaced, numbered pages with the title and your name in the header, new chapters on a new page, and a first title page with your contact details and a word count.

Don't send it as separate chapters; this will drive the agent bananas.

Thank you so much for that advice, I've only ever sent three chapters before so have a lot of copy and pasting to do!

Whatever comes of it, it's a most encouraging sign, and shows you are on the right track.

... and if the agent has a website remember to go check the submission guidelines on there. Sometimes they do tell you the finer details of what they want, like if they want fulls emailing as attachments or pasting in.

Hope you get somewhere with it!

Thank you all. What a valuable resource this site is.

For the record, the reviews I received on this site were mixed to say the least and left me feeling very negative about this work. In fact, I removed it in a fit of pique after some particularly scathing comments!

I entered it into a bursary competition and it was short listed which has given me the impetus to send it out into the real world. I really must develop a thicker skin!
