Any advice on how to use Twitter to promote a book? I've tried the obvious - advertising and asking for Re-Tweets - but I only got one or two. I've never bothered to promote my books in the past, but with the huge increase in Kindle sales recently, it seems a good idea to have a go.

I've never bothered to promote my books in the past, but with the huge increase in Kindle sales recently, it seems a good idea to have a go. it has to be more organic than that Rosalind. Get involved in conversations with people on the themes around your book, or genre. Build up a following. When they start retweeting your daily promo tweet, that's when the network kicks in. Also what are you pointing people too in your tweets? Your amazon page? Can you point them to free sample chapters, on a blog, on a site like BookBuzzr? Have you made a trailer or reading video and posted to YouTube & point people to that? Unfortunately if your content/output is completely static, retweeting won't achieve anything.
"A,B&E", "Not In My Name" and "52FF" (flash fiction anthology) all available on Amazon Kindle"How a psychopath makes sweet love. I can get you ringside. Royal box even."

Hi, I've been on Twitter for about 9 months now and have only just started to build up followers. It does take time and from experience the worst thing you can do is advertise straight away. Please find me on twitter @VixBarry and would be more than happy to retweet you and also tweet with you www.darkmoorchildrensbook.co.uk

I'm now following you, Vix, and looking forward to reading Darkmoor. Can you explain what Lists are all about? I see you're following quite a few.

Thank you I'm following you too! At first I really didn't get twitter but now seem to have the hang of things. Lists are something's that either one of your followers has created and added you name to or you can create your own list and add your followers too! A couple of people who follow me have added me to their 'new author' lists. You then can opt to follow that list, hope that helps and I look forward to tweeting with you

I'm a Twitter fan (@louise_wise), I find it best if you use the hashtags to find followers ie Check out Blahblah on htt://blah #writers #bloggers #author #romance But the secret, as others have said already, is to make conversation with others.
