Toblerone, are you mad?

Okay I also commented in serious fashion on the blog. A very live argument it is too.
"A,B&E", "Not In My Name" and "52FF" (flash fiction anthology) all available on Amazon Kindle

I really like the function that allows you to look up an unfamiliar word in either the British dictionaryor the American dictionary that is part of the kindle software, without losing your place in the text. It also has a function to enlarge the type if your poor old eyes can't cope - in fact to change to a variety of sizes. You can also use it to listen to audio books and to access the internet and order books, look up something other than books and order it also, should you wish.

It automatically goes to the page you were last reading when you switch on so no trouble finding that. I'm sure there are other functions too but I've not explored it all yet. I love books and Kindle - maybe you could liken it to something like the differences between TV and Radio, Cinema and DVD or BlueRay etc. If the basics of anything is all that interests you then don't bother trying anything else but you have the thing now why not give it a go before you sell it or give it away? You might even enjoy it.

Luckily, I have a trusty bookmark that remembers where I am if my brain truly cannot cope!

I have similar views on film. I'm quite happy to wait until something turns up on Film4. A good film is always good.

There's nothing like the smell of a new book in the morning, or an old book for that matter. As opposed to staring directly into a light, however diffuse, for an extended time. What happened the 40 minute Health & Safety rule?

I like ebooks the best now, especially since I can read loads of raunchy ones with this new ebook revolution Liberating, lol.

There's no light on a Kindle! I can read for hours at a time without it affecting my eyes and after all the ops I've had on my eye in the last three years ( I nearly lost my sight) it's bliss. Reading print is actually tiring for me after a while and makes my eye stream.

There must be some kind of illumination in a Kindle, surely?

I do see the value of it for someone with a disability or poor vision, or those who do a lot of long-haul travelling.

My Kindle page looks just like the page of a book. Don't think it's illuminated as I can't read it in the dark. What I like about Kindle is I can read my favourite authors' latest books when they first come out without having to pay the price of a hardback. And it's brilliant for reviewing work on YWO as I can copy and paste it into a word doc then send it to my Kindle to read like a book, making notes as I go along. I still buy paper books, however, as some aren't published to Kindle. But the bookshelves in my house are groaning under the weight of all my and my husband's books so it's great not to have to worry about where to put my latest acquisitions.

I understood you could brighten or darken the screen. Is that not the case?
