Another avenue for authors of historicals:

Historical novel reviews

You'll submit your work (preferably a hard copy, but some reviewers accept e-books and pdf), and it will get reviewed (unless too awful). Great authors will get interviews and such. This is not only for self-pubbed books.
You can always edit your writing, but you cannot edit an empty page.

I don't think there were too many rejections.

Oh, I apologize for hijacking Loopy Lou's thread. I wanted to make aware that there are review sites, which are used by publishers, that are open to submissions.

You can always edit your writing, but you cannot edit an empty page.
