Brooks' first book, The Sword of Shannara is an enthralling lesson on how to rip off the Lord of the Rings.

Still it didn't do him any harm, I think he now has 20+ books in the Shannara series and he is rightly recognised as one of the greatest fantasy authors.

Might have to try that, take the plot of an established novel, change a few names and try to get a publishing deal.

Terry Prachett is a genius, nuff said.

Not to mention the late great Eddings, his own Garion passed off as a bespectacled update.
