Title : The Last American Martyr Click to read story

Read Feed: "Had I, an unemployed doorman, never written that book, my life wouldn’t have taken such a harrowing turn. Had it not sold so well, I wouldn’t have needed to be on the lam like I have for so many months now. But I did write my book, and I’ll pay for that until the last shovel of cold dirt... "

Author : Thomas J. Winton

Genre : Novel, Thriller, General Fiction

Review:
This is bloomin' brilliant! Loved it.

Your style of writing is lovely; like wading into warm water and being carried away in slipstream. I just had to keep on reading.

I love the setting up of the situation as it's told by the mailman, and the setting itself - the description of small town life, and the sense you get of the hugeness and beauty of the surrounding countryside. Although in hiding, Tom seems at peace with the bleak beauty of the location, if in need of a good ear, but also feeling the effects of being terribly isolated.

I love your depiction of Tom, who is an immediately alluring character as seen through the eyes of our mailman.

This has everything, really, interesting story line, great characters and absolutely brilliantly written.

The only thing I would say is that Tom's account, towards the end, feels a bit dry after the wonderful start - Your writing is so good, though that I think this is just the vehicle to get over some of what happened to Tom.
Loved it, and would definitely read on.

Synopsis
After an unemployed doorman is awarded The Nobel Prize for Literature, his book resuscitates the all-but-dead international labor movement. But not everyone is happy. A profit-hungry elitist clique is absolutely livid. And when Thomas Soles and his wife, Elaina, return from Stockholm, they are forced to flee for their lives.
