An author whom I met through the shop read The Gilded Cage and Phantasmagoria and liked them enough to give me an introduction to the agent who has represented her short fiction for more than twenty-five years. I hadn’t realised there were agents who dealt with short stories but apparently this lady deals with English language magazines throughout the world, most of which do not except unsolicited submissions. She herself only accepts submissions by recommendation.

The agent has now read my work and although neither story is suitable for her markets - I didn’t think they would be – has given me guide lines for the type of work she can sell and asked me to send her something written to fit them.

Bit of a case of it’s not what you know but who you know, and I feel very fortunate to have had this door opened for me. Hopefully I can walk through it.

Absolutely brilliant. It's the small steps that lead to the giant leaps. Well done, Tempy.

Congratulations. I hope what the agent wants is also what you enjoy writing.

Just heard short story agent lady has accepted the first piece I submitted and is going to start sending it out as soon as I add a couple of sentences to the ending which she says is a little too abrupt.

I know it's not sold yet but I'm so excited I'm sure my toes feel better! Lol.

Another small step forward.
