Skinny Dip
That was excellent. I mean that was really excellent. The description was beautifully done, and I found it really atmospheric. (I would love to go to her pool.) It was one of those stories where the writing is of such good quality you don't even notice you're reading it, if you see what I mean (like if it wasn't so good, you'd keep be being pulled out of the story to go 'eh, you what?' at it).
I honestly don't know what I can say by way of constructive criticism. I just really enjoyed that. The ending was so bittersweet; I was expecting more but then after a moment of staring at that last line, I realised it just didn't need it. I think it's really skillful how you combine an event-related plot thread in real time - the woman escaping the pool complex - with an emotional one taking place mostly in her thoughts.
I think I gave you straight fives except for four on character, because I realised I didn't know much about the narrator although I guess I didn't need to, and four on dialogue, because some of that slurry speech was a bit off, I thought. But that's just minor; it was overall plain excellent!
Please keep writing, and good luck!
