Have a look at YWO's own publishing deal, but do make sure your work is in the best possible shape before you go ahead. An editor would be a good idea.

Many of us. Go with YWO here for publishing. But as Sue says, get your book edited first and you'll need a good cover designer, too. If you want any further help or info you can email me direct. My address is in my page. Cheers, Pam.

I read a real great success story in the NYT about Amanda Hocking.

I'm glad there are legit sites like InkPop.com that help you make self-publishing not only easy by successful given the quality of the writing. It's a weird time to be a writer, but also revolutionary.

Most of those companies will publish your shopping list if you pay them. I bought a book that sounded good - on the blurb but was very disappointed by the quality of writing. Peppered with double adjectives, commas in the wrong place, etc. It spoilt what would have otherwise been a good story. I'm afraid this kind of thing puts me off taking the chance again if I know a book has been self published, and I'm sure it will others too. I feel self publishing companies have a duty to get a good name for themselves, and therefore should only accept well edited work. But sadly this is never the case.
I would say, if you want to publish with YWO, it is a good deal, but have your work proffesionally edited and proof read before hand. you don'r want some one to pick it up and say - 'I can see why she had to self publish!'

1) Yes
2) New Generation Press, avoid them like the plague
3) I didn't, but would strongly recommend you get it edited

Hope this helps
