Not packing my bags just yet but I'd appreciate any feedback on this site-I had a couple of friends recomend it as being the most helpful.

I'm a member over there as well, although I haven't posted anything for a while. It has a slightly different system in that you have to build up 'karma' in order to post anything for review. You get so much 'karma' for reviewing other people's work and for various other things, so you might end up doing a few reviews before getting any reviews yourself. The critiques over there are generally of a high standard, though - I'm meaning to spend some time there again.

Thanks Lorraine-sounds very cool-the thought of high standard reviews is very appealing to me at the moment, Quote: LorraineDouglas, Monday, 20 Jun 2011 09:28I'm a member over there as well, although I haven't posted anything for a while. Today I'm a feeling a bit like Cruella de Ville-my friends - 2 of them mentioned (independently) that Scribophile is both good for non-fiction and also for completing projects (eg if you post chapters other than the opening ones, there's more help available) The fact that theyre not looking for the next literary Jedward is also quite appealing. Be interesting to hear some involved feedback. I see it costs 80 dollars - which cd be a lot to be told I don't spell correctly. BTW,if you are into any freewill exchanges at the moment, including downstory excerpts, do let me know. I'm at dcving at ya dot com

There is a free membership on there - it just limits you to uploading two works at once, rather than unlimited. I've got a free account.

missed the free bit, which is surprising for me. So what's yr experience Lorraine? You reckon the crits are better? And what made you switch yr efforts to YWO?

Well, I posted stuff on Scribophile a couple of years ago, and am still a member there, but hadn't been putting anything up for review anywhere for a while (life, work getting in the way etc). So it's not so much that I switched sites, more that I rediscovered Scribophile and found YWO at the same time.
I wouldn't like to say that the crits are better, because I'm aware that YWO isn't operating as usual at the minute. I heard about YWO through the NBA comp, so I don't have any experience of it other than at this time, but I'm hoping to stick around and see what it's like longer term.
The crits at Scribophile are mostly decent, though. You earn more 'karma' points for a longer review, and members rate the reviews, so there's not much to gain from writing a 100-word wonder over there! I'm planning to stick with both sites for the time being.
