So maybe this is just me, but in the FAQs it says, " if you find between the 10 to 20 review stage that it is hard to move your chart position, you may wish to upload your story again to counter the weight of collective scores which may be keeping your story from progressing. Many YouWriteOn Best Seller Chart entries have done this and progressed as a result." Now... I am very frustrated, because I had a story drop from 6 to 9 to 19 in two days. But still... is it cheating to re-upload a stoy just to get better reviews? I mean, I'd love better reviews, but am I even allowed to have the same story up twice? I don't know, what do you guys think? To re-upload or not to re-upload? Thanks!! -MM

I think it's far more valuable to have lots of reviews for your story, but the downside is that it doesn't do you any favours in the charts ... on the contrary. It's not cheating to upload - the system seems to encourage it, but maybe just add a note at the top of your story letting reviewers know it's just a new upload and there are no sweeping changes (unless there are).

So, do you mean better reviews, or better scores? I don't know how useful your reviews have been up until now but the best ones aren't necessarily the highest scoring. If you're looking for higher scores, you may be disappointed if you upload the work again without a revision. It's the luck of the draw with any upload. Bear in mind that you are primarily here to improve your writing, not simply to scramble to the top by whatever means you can.

I never thought it was about better reviews. Now I'm not the best at maths, but I thought it was due to the effect of averages. The more reviews you have, the more scores you have, the less a new review would affect the average of that score, hence the chart position becomes stagnated, neither going up nor down, so to speak.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the answers... no of course I'm not trying to get to the top no matter what. I definitely want good reviews that will be constructive and helpful, because I want to improve my writing, but it is nice once in a while to also have good ratings. I was just wondering because that's what the FAQs said and I thought it was curious. Thank you for your replies! -MM

Then present it on the other site as the next best writer or whatever they call it. Howzat?
