I'm sorry - I'm a bit Sunday night two bottles of wine for the worse but will the person who has had my story for two days etiher review it or reject it! I just don't understand why anyone requests a story to review if they don't have the time to do it! This happened to me before and after three days I got 100 words of crap!! I have the feeling I am putting my head above the old para-thingy for the first time here but it needs to be said. Love and xxs R.

Two days really isn't too bad. It's probably my own average time although if it's a short story I can usually review it the same day - if I'm lucky and don't have too many interruptions. I like to read an assignment twice before I review it and if there are a large number of suggestions for improvement, then it is time consuming to give a decent review and not a measly 100 worder. Also, if it's not the reviewer's favourite genre, it can be a struggle to get through an assignment. I know the waiting can be frustrating, particularly if your upload is going well so far and you want to see it progress up the chart , but most people on this site, I'm sure, have busy lives and other commitments, as well as their own writing. I think when I first joined YWO, the assignment limit was 7 days! All in all, it's better to receive a really helpful review after 4 days than a useless one after 1. The worst thing is the reviewer who hangs on for 4 days and lets it drop - a total time waste. I hope you receive your review today! Claire

Have to agree. Two days isn't bad. Four days and then removing it is shoddy! Sometimes I manage to review within 24 hours. Other times, it takes me up to three days. I request reading assigments with good intentions but life does often get in the way. Also, I like to read things properly, a few times, and give a thorough review. I agree with Claire that I'd rather wait for a constructive review that someone has taken time over than have a meagre few words banged out in half an hour. On the other hand, IF your review is '100 words of crap' after waiting a few days, then that is a bit aggravating. Hope your head is okay this morning after all that wine?! x

I've seen some effusive thanks for your reviews, Sammy, so I imagine a three day wait for one of yours is probably worth it!

It's faster than it was; over the winter I was getting one review a month. Sometimes you have to wait a few days, sometimes you get two in a day. The good ones are worth the wait, but I don't get the reviewer who took several days, gave me very poor ratings, and as good as admitted they marked me down because the book isn't their thing! If someone's feeling like that, why not pass on it?

You are right all of course - I was just on a bit of a drunken rant. Two days doesn't seem as long as this morning as it did last night! I'm sure the reviewer has a highly demanding job, five kids a sick granny and lives in a cardboard box in the middle of the M4 - so again I'm very sorry - and I have a headache. XX

I wish it were two days maximum. After three days in yet another lay-by, my upload attracts 101 words of dreamy musings.
