I'm not sure if someone else has posted about this, but how nice to see that Nick Macfie's first novel, Hadley, is coming out in November:

Nick was one of my most helpful reviewers when I first joined YWO, so it's lovely to see him having this well-deserved success for his own story.

I had a look at this. It says he lives in Singapore now.

Yes, but I guess he'll still be British wherever he goes. I'm really looking forward to reading his book, as it's an updated version of an opening he had on YWO that I really enjoyed. I'm sure there must be many other members who remember reading it. Isn't it lovely to see yet another story we read here 'in the raw,' so to speak, being recognised for its worth in the wider world?

I read this flying from London to Hong Kong. Totally surreal in parts, but smooth and funny. Especially the dialogue. He manages to nail Hong Kong too, avoiding the cliches. Kept thinking it would make a great play.

I'll read anything set in Hong Kong. But, Toulouse, why the reincarnation?

Cos the system wouldn't recognise my original username and email address. And I am naturally sneaky.

That is one of the YWO glitches. I was born in Hong Kong and lived there half my life. So I'll definitely download the start of your novel from Amazon to have a look at on my Kindle then order the paperback to pass on to family if I like it.

That's very kind. Thanks very much. Unfortunately, it isn't out on Kindle any more. Only paperback.

Many thanks, Paul. To address Siodai's point about novels set in Hong Kong, one of the best I have read has the unlikely title, "The Ghost of Neil Diamond", by David Milnes, which reached the No 1 spot on YWO about five years ago. It is has won rave reviews (Whattraditionbooks). Dark and very funny. About a Neil Diamond impersonator reduced to playing dodgy places like the Mariners' Club.
