Hi there everyone, I have been a member for a week or so and am really enjoying my reading assignments and the great quality of writing on this site. I actually joined because TheNextBigAuthor.com sent me details of a competion for opening chapters, I had some, so I wanted to enter. Trouble is, it said that my chapters had to be reviewed at least eight times. I'm just reviewing my eighth assignment and have been assigning my reading credits to my chapters, but I have only had two back, my stats say that my number of assigned chapters is zero? It's been a week now since I had a review for mine even though I have been reviewing other peoples all week. Aren't my chapters sent out as soon as I review someone elses? I don't see now how I can get my eight reviews to enter the comp by the deadline, which is about a week away I think?....how does this system work for the rest of you. Just to say though, I am really loving this site. Thank you.

Hi HonestyAnyway - just a response from a fellow writer and not an 'official'. In one of the messages currently on this Welcome Board, you can see quite a long thread on how the credit system works (and sometimes does not). It appears it's best not to load on too many credits at one time, but to do them when someone completes reading yours. People can (and do) take up to four days to read an assignment - and you are a bit scuppered if they then don't meet the schedule. That is the luck of the draw. For what it's worth I think there may be a law that the longer the wait the less useful the review (but that may be entirely subjective). I know I try to turn mine around in under 24 hours and usually in an hour or two. Just looked at the cover of your book. I hope that gets assigned to me in time! Good luck with Vamperion Rob

Good luck with Vamperion Rob Thanks Rob, I'm really grateful for your reply, it was kind of you to take the time. I didn't realise there was a piece already posted about reading credits, so thanks for pointing it out, I shall take a look, although I have come to realise the deadline I was trying to beat for the opening chapters competition doesn't seem to exist once you actually get on here. There is no mention of a January only comp - but instead, a chart that runs monthly. Either way I am enjoying the experience. Thank you for your kind comments about my book cover and I wish you well with your masterpiece(s) Take care. Donna.

Hi Donna Re: the competition, I believe you have until the end of the month to get the 8 reviews you mention (which is a requirement for entry into the Top Ten). The best thing to do is probably keep doing reviews yourself but store the credits in your credit bank, only attaching one to your book at a time. Apparently they get assigned to other members quicker in that case. The very best of luck and I hope you enjoy your YWO experience. Safia

Safia Thank you so much Safia, I can see I have been doing it wrong by cramming my credits on after I review, I have moved them back to my bank now...thank you and good luck to you. Donna
