On one of my rare excursions into the city centre yesterday I bought a Big Issue (no 887).
A couple of articles inside were of some interest.
One was about a 'spoken word artist', Polarbear (AKA Steven Camden). He insists he's no poet, but a writer and storyteller. He came over as an individual with pace, passion, power, commitment and desire. It was inspiring stuff.
Unfortunately, the article doesn't appear to be available online, so a street purchase is necessary. But, I found some footage on youtube:

(sorry, I know this has been covered lots of time, I must try and pay attention - how do you make these links live??)

Well worth a look.

There was also another article claiming that all is not dead in the world of bookshops, citing ways that they are maintaining their position in the high street.
