I suspect we'll be seeing more of this, though I'm surprised they only want a covering note and synopsis, and not sample chapters. That suggests they may not really be expecting to find anything they want to 'progress'.

A note to the paranoid: they're just looking for new ideas to feed to their regular writers. Only kidding.

A friend just got published by Walker books (Children's book publisher) and mainly acheived this through sending synopses and (complimentary) covering emails all over the place. It seems this is the way to go at the moment. Most publishers will tolerate a short email outlining an idea. When or if you get the request to see the book, they often want all of it, so it should actually be finished. Of course, a concise and interesting synopsis is always key to getting a reply, not to mention patience - for the long wait for a response.

... an honest insult is so much better than an insincere flattery...

At least this could be a job op-because those furry little critters will need some help to answer all the e-mails coming their way. Unless of course this was posted a few months back on April 1st?
Only an "s" stands between laughter and slaughter.

I looked up the details about Penguin accepting enquiries from unknown, unplublished writers and was excited about this new avenue. As a result, I sent off a query letter. However, I see now that they have removed that piece of information from their website even though we haven't reached October yet
Does anyone else think that this is odd?

It was when I went to the Penguin website, not using the link, that I noticed that it wasn't there anymore. I feel that I'm suffering from stupiditus, here. I do apologise!
