Wondering if anyone has come across the Novelrank website. Rather than the Amazon rankings which no one understands it gives sales figures and graphs to show how your sales are doing from month to month.
As I understand it, I think the figures are based on calculations from the Amazon rankings, so cannot be considered as totally precise, but it does convert those Amazon fluctuations into something approximating a sales figure.

Thanks for that. Presumably we can't see other sales? I find it odd to see that someone has been tracking my book for a couple of months. Certainly isn't me, as this is the first I've heard of this site.

I didn't really get it.
It said my book is inactive whatever that means.

Thanks so much for letting us know about this, Allan. I have added both my books to keep a check on. It's not always easy to see how many are coming and going. This is a great idea.

How do you copy your amazon URL? I've tried highlighting and using Copy from the Edit menu, but that just copies the entire Amazon page. And I don't have patience (or the eyesight) to type it out letter by letter.

Mine copied okay. I haven't got a clue what the graph means though. It's easier to wait for your royalty statement, as that shows all the sales, except for the author copies of course.

Rosalind - it's slightly misleading. You don't have to enter the whole URL, only the 10 digit number which appears after dp/ in your URL. To save your eyesight, I've entered Ready, Steady, Dig and Gnome. It's also disconcerting, as it appears at first that you have made zero sales in the previous month. However, this is just because it doesn't start to track sales until you've posted your book on the site. After a bit it will also produce charts which show the sales rank for the UK and US, in which the lower numbers are the better numbers. In other words, the nearer the bottom of the graph, the better! Confusing, eh?

Hi Rosalind;

The way I do it is to highlight the URL in the explorer window using the mouse (actually it highlights automatically as soon as you left click) and then right click and select COPY in the window that appears. Don't use the Edit menu feature

One can then go to another document and paste it there.

Good luck with it.

Best,
