Not sure if this is the right board - but here goes I have a book published through NewGeneration. Myself and at least two other authors were notified of royalty payments way back in April. We have yet to see a penny despite several promises. One author has actually phoned them but no joy yet with her payment or a large order of books she made some time ago. After several empty e-mailed promises, I was told mine would appear in my account by the end of this week - it's now Friday night and it's still not there. Becoming concerned now... Anyone here had their royalties yet?

If you go into the Writers' Circle thread on here and go to page 2 you will see the ongoing saga of New Gen non-payment stories. The thread was started by me. I had my payment a couple of weeks ago but only after I threatened them with Trading Standards. Hope that's of some help. You will also see on there a phone number for "Tom" . Give him a call, you'll have to leave a message but he will call you back. Good luck. Pam.

Anyone here had their royalties yet? Are you published directly through Legends Press/New Generation, or through the YWO scheme? YWO no longer operate through Legends/New generation, though Legends are still responsible for paying royalties on those books already published. I was published directly through Legends (ie no YWO involvement) and received my royalties early June. I know those who went through the original YWO deal have had to scream until they were blue in the face, but my understanding is that within the last fortnight they have received their money. Somewhere on YWO forums is a thread about this, where the members said what they did in order to secure their payments - so you may want to track the thread down.

Marc, has anyone had problems getting royalties from YWO? I certainly haven't: mine have arrived on the dot every time and with no prompting. I thought it was only New Gen that people have been having problems with?

I'm amazed. I don't remember seeing anything on the MBs about probems getting paid by YWO.

Athene, what Marc means is that our manuscripts were originally submtted to YWO who were in conjunction at the time with New Gen/Legend, but for some reason when the split came some of us were left with New Gen and the rest of you YWO. None of us went to New Gen voluntarily, it's just the way it happened at the time. I presumed mine was going through YWO at first. Wish it had now, all the trouble we've had with New Gen. Anyway, that won't be happening again. I'm with Ted from now on.

I hadn't heard about that. I was with the first wave of YWO publishing in October 2008, so my book came out months before the YWO/New Gen split. I chose to go with New Gen for my second book, because they were offering a deal at the time it was ready, and there was no sign of a YWO deal anywhere in the offing. Then it took them so long to publish that I would have done far better to wait - people who waited for the next YWO deal were published a couple of months before my book came out (and New Gen didn't send me a proof copy - or even bother to tell me when they finally got round to publishing!). I'm now hoping to be able to re-publish with YWO when the new round is announced.

Well I have no complaints about Legends, other than the one point Athene raises, it would have been nice for them to have let me know that the book was out and available - I discovered it by accident while idly surfing Amazon.
