Hi Pam, thanks for the link. There are few NZ publishers so I'm interested to see what it is. The link's not working for me though... Anyone else?

Sorry about that, Lin LL, it was earlier. Let me see if I can locate the tweet with the link in it.

I didn't end up sending Behind the Hood to any NZ publishers. Because I didn't know where I was going to be next year at that point I decided to self-publish (plus, I hate lit agents-TIME WASTERS). Anyway, good news, the New Zealand Chambers of Commerce in Singapore contacted me and are now putting on an event for me, hiring out a cafe and all. I love getting emails like that.

Ah, ok that's the ticket. But sheesh, why can't new publishers get themselves decent looking websites. Makes me wonder how much care and attention goes into their book design. Best of luck, Marita. Hope you have fun. I have a relative who works for a literary publishing company in Wellington, and sure enough they only work with authors whose writing has been produced as a result of getting funding from the arts council. So from that I take it the publishing industry works quite differently in NZ. I have no idea how to get funding from the NZ arts council, but I suspect it's what authors do in NZ... Before the self publishing era, that is. Plus there are only about five lit agents in the whole of NZ aren't there, and at any one time only one or two of them are actively seeking new work? So yep. Waste of time, I'd say.

One is useless, as she loses things, and the others aren't taking submissions. Anyway, lit agents are more trouble than I can be bothered with.
