Quote: Zak Spundy, Saturday, 20 Mar 2010 23:05It astonishes me how much time and energy you spend spouting on here about this and that when you could be punching out some words into your PC to create a story or a novel. What a waste. would be a waste if I could write before 8pm. I have kids though. three of em. So forum chatting is something i can do in between other things. for writing, i need to give it my undivided, uninterupted attention. but hey, you're here too, aren't ya? pot, meet kettle.

I find dealing with people like this help me to develop controversial characters in my novels.

The people here care more about talking about how crappy they think someone is than they do about helping someone with their writing (which is originally what this thread was supposed to be about). So the people here like drama. That's okay. Most people do. But if you want to talk about how this will be the "downfall of YWO" than consider what you contributed to it. I'm on authonomy, and if there is post I want to see disappear, I don't reply to it. It's really quite simple. When this thread was looking for help, the pace was slow. When the attacks against me began, replies started piling on rapidly. When the discussion turned to Aspergers instead of how horrible you think I am, people complained about the thread (my thread) being derailed. But no one cared when it was derailed from helping another writer. Because attacking other writers is apparently the fun, cool thing to do here. ipaint - how very perceptive of you! That's it exactly! But actually that only applies to the forum - the review side of the site is great, and if you stay off the forum and only do the reviews, then it's fine. You do get some great reviews on here, I'd say it's probably about 50/50, or even 75/25 but most of all you learn a lot by reviewing others. So it doesn't really matter if you get crap reviews yourself. And the bad reviews are mostly caused by inexperience.

I'm glad to hear that the crit side of this site provides a really good experience for most people i'm really glad to have met someone like you here as well. i hope you do well with your writing career.

Quote: paintersreincarnatio, Saturday, 20 Mar 2010 22:38a) then it's a contest of who can be the meanest to that person. that makes them the closest in the group. b) I may misread sometimes, but over the years it has been to my benefit to at least be able to interpret certain kinds of behaviors in other people. this is one of them. a) I have never seen this happen here, but I believe it's what Authonomy thrives on b) perhaps we can stop judging each other and we can get on with the job? I suspect most of us have some weird tendencies, but that's not what the site is about. Again, I stress - you will get as many opinions on your work as there are members and you live with that. In extreme cases you can contact Ted for arbitration.

Good grief. I can't believe the length of this thread and all it's seem to be doing is going around in circles. There are almost as many words here as a novel. What a shame not to be putting the time to one's writing instead.
