I'm very puzzled. I have had 6 reviews and at that point was awarded an average 4.9 rating. This dropped to 4.7 yesterday and today it is at 4.5! Can anyone help explain this? Thanks in anticipation.

Mine keeps yo-yoing. I went up to Number 10 from 18 for no apparent reason (hadn't had a review for days at that point). Then I got an all-5s and shot down to 20. Beginning to think perhaps it's just numbers out a hat!!

The scores you got from the first review would only have come into effect at midnight UK time, hence that change even after you got the review.
It's not clear how the scoring works - it's a secret recipe - but if standard deviations are used, it's possible that changes in what scores other people get will moderate your score. If the general population mean drops then the interpretation of your own scores may drop. If it works that way. Like with University exams - if everyone is doing really well then they assume that the exam was easier than expected and moderate everyone's scores downwards appropriately.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, there were no new reviews in a couple of days so I think it must be to do with the overall standards/ratings. I guess the secret is not to worry too much about the ratings, although it's quite exciting and a bit of a spur to improve! Cheers, happy writing....
