Many thanks for your kind comments and scores, and particularly for answering the specific question about the backstory.
I take your point about the lack of settings - at this point in the story, the settings aren't really relevant, but I do have another fifteen hundred words in hand, so I suppose I could add some. But that does feel a bit too much like writing with the YWO scoring categories in mind. But then if I don't, I shall keep being marked down for Settings, which means no chance of the Pro Crit that I'm aiming for. Difficult.

I would say, in that case, just go with what your instinct tells you is right without thinking about the scoring. If it's meant to be, you will get the critique you're after. In my experience it never pays to go against your gut feeling in any area of life! Also, perhaps if you made reference to he settings issue in the synopsis people would take note when scoring?
