For all you (us) non-fantasy reading folk out here, overwhelmed by the torrent of spells and swordplay, if all your prejudices seem ever more set in stone, read this! It will dissolve the reality-loving thorns round your stony muggle hearts. Well it did mine, and I don't even really know what a muggle is.

On technical aspect it is a good lesson in High Stakes.

I totally agree with you - Lifeweaver by Gavin Cramblet changed my view of this genre as well. Its a brilliantly written and planned piece which keeps you intrigued from beginning to end.

I searched for it today to include it in my recommendations of books rated between 20 and 30 in the charts (see below) but Lifeweaver wasn't there. Later, I realised that it has been revised and resubmitted with only 2 reviews so far.

Oh dear, Gavin, I hope it improves your ratings, but in my case, adding a revised version (based on reviewers' criticisms) had the opposite effect. My original "The Truck Road" is now at 27 with the revised version at 30 - and there are a lot of books in that range. All the very best of luck with it and hope to see you in the Top Ten one day.

Many excellent stories haven't made it (so far) into the TT. Haven't read Lifeweaver but will now I've seen this.

I loved 'Murphy's Ghost' but don't think it ever reached the TT. Likewise 'Journey into the Interior', 'Twitchy', 'Secrets', 'Imprisoned Angels', and . . . the list goes on and on.

Edit: Forgot the 'in' in 'into'.
