Good man yer Da, Perry. Well done!

Hope I don't take the shine off when I say I'm on that SL too - guessing you'll not make it to Limerick to read yours yourself at the 'slam'? I can't go, although I live in Belfast. Which is a shame as I've always rather thought of myself as a "slam" kinda guy.

Not sure whether to tell people or not - can easily imagine having to say to everyone, "No, it's a Writers' Centre in Limerick, not a centre for limerick writers"........!!

PS Happy to let you see my piece by email if you're interested? I'd like to see yours as I won't get to hear them all on the night.
My story, 'An Encounter' - as improved by YWOers - is available in this anthology:

Speech Bubble Magazine Best Of Issues 1, 2 & 3 ebook

Why thank you, aj - no it doesn't take an iota of pleasure away your also being on the short list. It amplifies it. Congratulations. I'm sorry I can't find my way to exchanging stories by email here. I'm still finding my way here, testing the waters, and I love my privacy. Weird for an author, I know - but I have a feeling that there are some on this site who would abuse the address. as they do the MBs.
The LCW site might publish the SL stories when it's time. If not, I'll post my story on the board on piggyback to another longer story - if you're still interested at that stage. Sorry for the overcautious bit - past experience.

You can attach your stories as Word docs or pdfs by going to 'add attachment' below.

No, no worries Perry. Somewhat presumptuous of me to ask, I know, but the curiosity is 'hanging out of me'. I seem to have passed a phase where i wouldnt show anyone anything I'd written to a phase where I'm stopping dogs in the street to show them my latest FF. So you'll have to forgive me. Under normal circumstances I'd move heaven and earth to get to Limerick and hear them all, but mrs aj is due to deliver our fourth wee one that week so it's a non-starter!!

I can't believe I'm saying this, as normally I avoid cliches like the plague, but being on the SL is more than enough for me. It's these little shiny baubles which give us the confidence to go on and write the next story.

Maybe LWC will video the slam and post it online. They've done that with other recent events. I hope it's a good night for all and I wish you luck Perry. You international man of mystery.

Double congratulations then!!

And yes we loves our shiny baubles, our preciousssssssssssssss-essss.

Thank you dancingsue. Totally blinded myself to the attachment below the message creator. I'd be wary of posting the story online though lest it be regarded as a disqualifying factor.
