Has anyone uploaded from a Mac? If so, what programme did you use?

still struggling with mine, but all I did was save my MS document as webpage, so .htm instead of .doc.

I've been told working the original in .doc rather than .docx before you convert it is better, but I haven't done that myself.

Grrrr!

I haven't got Word, only the appalling OpenOffice, as my usual working programme is QuarkXpress. I doubt I can do it in OO. Damn!

then you need to download some free conversion software. But Mobi doesn't work with Macs. I'm told Stanza may do the trick - that's the one I'm going to try

couldn't figure it out. Didn't seem to be a conversion software but a viewing one?

Hmm, breakthrough of a sort. On a third book produced on a fresh Word document with minimal formatting (no indenting) it has uploaded perfectly. I can only presume the other two have too much accumulated crap in the html code so am faced with prospect of retyping them afresh. Not a thrilling prospect.

The one that worked was my collection of 52 flash fiction pieces. Available to buy hopefully in a couple of days

I have been using OpenOffice before as well and it proves not to be quite worth it in terms of investment of your time. I suggest that you sway over to Word and start it from there, I bet you that it would take you less time if you jump to it right now that finish it off with OO and then figure out how to publish it. The htm option is the right choice.

This may not be the answer to your problem but as a Mac user have you come across the Scrivener programme, by writers for writers

http://www.literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php

You can compile your book from within this programme
