Hello. I hope this is the right place to ask as still navigating myself around the site. i've had 2 useful reviews but they both say that my chapter ends oddly - this is because the end of my 3 chapters goes over the word count allowed. I've edited slightly so could fit more of ch3 in, but still not enough. Any suggestions please.

Hemmie, you could just end with
(Chapter 3 continues...)
Otherwise, break off at a more suitable point earlier in the extract. You're not required to go up to the maximum word count!

We would all like to have all of our deathless prose reviewed, but novel extracts were subjected to a shorter limit a few months ago, partly because some people just weren't reviewing them, finding them too long.

Another way round this is to put up (say) your first two chapters for the 'opening chapters' review. Then you can put up Ch.3-4 as a separate extract, etc. These later extracts won't qualify for the Top Ten, but it will mean you'll get some feedback.

Many thanks Ann for your response, your suggestions are very helpful, and so I will look at my extract again with a cleared vision.

My pleasure. Just remember to update your reading test if you modify your extract!
