The opening of this novel is a great of example of how to ratchet tension and suspense. Not once does the writer directly refer to anything being amiss - there are no internal monologue, where the character mulls over what is happening - yet, the reader just know something bad is about to happen. Creeping skin sensation. Love it.

So is the title a secret?

I believe Kasia is referring to paigecarter's 'The Pink Blanket'. In any case, IMO, her comment fully applies to PB.

Yes, sounds just like Pink Blanket to me too. The sense of unease is brilliantly done.

Should have put the title first and then gripping commercial fiction in the sub heading - but it is there, though the author's name on the story I reviewed is Carolann Kaiser.

Anyway glad others agree. I note this author also has a short story in the top ten, no surprise - she sure can write.

Jealous, moi? Most definitely.

Sorry, I clicked on the thread from the main MB not through this forum so didn't get to see the sub-heading.

I agree on the quallity of the writing.

Yes, me too. A great start to a novel; sinister yet subtle. Makes you want to read on.

Where are you Carolann? Have you seen all this praise?
