Hi All
Just a little bit of fustration creeping in here.

I wondered if anyone had the same problem.
I have just published my book with YWO which is great. One of the reasons agents and publishers gave for not taking me on was that my book doesn't really fit into any genre. Technically it is a fantasy but it's a very human story with no magical creatures etc. It's more like historical fiction except that the history isn't real. It is also romantic and although it's written for adults, I think it woul also be suitable for young adults.
Why do we have to give everything a label, and risk putting off readers who might otherwise enjoy?
It's so that booksellers know which section to put it in obviously, but who says they can't put it in more than one?
Sorry about the rant but it makes me feel like screaming sometimes.
