Since I've already done a Free Will on that one Ciaran, I'd be willing to do one of the others if you let me know which one. I'll just bank the 'credit' for now, that being the case, and you can return the favour later (perhaps when I re-post The Truck Road).

Thanks Safia, you're great, but it's the Bobby Roberts one I'm looking for. Actually, I'm beginning to wonder if my time is done at YWO, the stories are so far down the line now its like asking people to review chapters 9-12 without knowing anything of whats gone before. 9 Days now, dropped three times. Not looking good. Just a little info though. As you know the stories in 'The View' are all based on known historical figures and events. The first ten stories are set in the 19thC and essentially tell the story of Bobby Roberts. 'What Happened to Bobby Roberts' is my attempt to tell what might have happened to him at the end of his life. Well, this week I was working away on the investigative front, digging and sniffing for clues, when I got wind of a possile burial site. I make a few enquiries and discover the site is located at a prominent local address. I check out the address and it belongs to a man my family knows/knew. (His wife taught me italian at school for a couple of years and I know his daughter.) So I contact the daughter and a good friend of hers who lived next door and low and behold there's a story that furthers the cause. So I contact some other people and now there's going to be a forensic examination, xray first and then possibly an excavation. Bobby Roberts was possibly also known as Wylie, a young native who accompanied Edward John Eyre across the Nullabor cliffs in an extraordinary tale of endurance and survival in 1881. Bobby Roberts has latterly been fictionalised as Bobby Wabalanginy in 2010's most awarded Commonwealth novel, That Deadman Dance, by Kim Scott. So I'm now in the middle of a mini information storm where all the relevent people are trying to determine what happens next.. Pretty exciting eh?

That is so interesting and really exciting for you to be involved with, Ciaran. With so much interest in Bobby, I'm convinced you'll get The View published, and yes, you may have outgrown YWO for the time being. There'll be a 2nd book to workshop later I'm sure. Anyone else reading this - please consider doing a Free Will on Whatever Happened to Bobby Roberts - it's a fantastic read.

Thanks Lisa, all I'm looking for is an overview. Could you make sense of it, was it interesting, did it sound like a story that could be part of something larger and important. Is there a ring of truth about it, something you might believe.. Best wishes Ciaran

Ciaran, that's incredibly about the new findings and connections. I agree with Safia, that this should find publisher interest. Fascinating. Will soon get on to looking at this (if it's in the right order from where I am).

Will soon get on to looking at this (if it's in the right order from where I am). It's pretty exciting alright. Not much I can do about it from this side of the world though. It's in the hands of the local authorities (as they say). We'll see what happens this week. It's kind of a cool feeling though, (if it doesn't turn out to be a red herring that is..) Vacillating? Um, yeah.. Chhimi, What Happened to Bobby Roberts (part 1) is story nine in the series but fourth of those concerning Bobby Roberts / Wylie / the boy, Wailibanginy, specifically. Stick with the pattern, hopefully it'll be worth it..
