I only joined last month and yet already I have a pet hate. It seems like we wait quite awhile to have our chapters assigned. Mine averages at 5 days I think. Then you finally see that '1' pop up and then the fretting can begin, as you pray they'll like it. --- So what can be worse than a bad review? Answer: No review at all. Twice now my chapters have been assigned and the full four days goes by, and suddenly I have my reading credit back and no review. I should imagine that they must be fully prepared to spare the time and effort to review a piece when they click on the button to accept an assignment? So why accept one, only to sit on it for four days and do nothing about it? Or perhaps even reject it on the deadline? If they accept it and then decide it is not the genre they wanted then surely it is kinder to reject it first thing to allow it to be moved on quickly to the next? And again, if you read a page or two and can't take to it, that would be the time to return it....not four days later. So please, to those who sat on mine, please don't accept an assignment if you don't have the time or the energy to see it through. Thanks Donna

If you look back across the threads of yesteryear, you'll find many similar posts. One thing to bear in mind is that, unless you are watching your status constantly, your piece can be assigned and rejected many times in a day. Who can say why anyone rejects a piece - we're all different. The other thing is, not every member visits the message boards, so your appeal may not reach the right people.

I guess with each new batch of members comes a re-hash of all the old posts and woes. Rejection of an assignment is never a problem, although personally, I'd prefer to commit to the assignment regardless. There is much to learn and a field becomes narrow I feel, if a person only sticks to genres they are familiar with. It's the sitting on it for four days and doing nothing which I don't understand. But as you say, we are all different, thankfully. Many thanks again for your reply. Donna

Five days, blimey, you’re honoured. Once, I had a credit assigned, four days later, not completed, it was reassigned. Four days later, not completed, it was reassigned again. Eventually someone actually took the time to read it – 11 days for one review! However, I did once receive six reviews in a week. Take the rough with the smooth and assign one credit at a time.
