Title : Flower Maiden

Author : Martine Lillycrop

Genre : Novel, Saga, Science Fiction, Fantasy

Synopsis
Bethany Sweet believes she’s dead. Then she wakes up in someone else’s body, on a world she doesn’t know or understand. Why are so many diverse parties interested in her fate? And what is this malevolent force, known as the Blight, which she has been summoned to vanquish?

Review By: waterwriter

"A dual heroine with spark

...This story is very imaginative, and has a fairy-tale-with-a-twist quality that I really like. Beth is a great character – grounded, as illustrated in the wonderful paragraph when she holds the grass, wry and impatient, as shown when she decided she has had enough of the insects’ sounds.

The description is evocative, sometimes rather sad, and sometimes very beautiful. I particularly loved, ‘this serene, sun-spangled little glade."

Oh, I loved that phrase too. Really stood out.

I thought this was great. In fact, I said my only criticism was I didn't have the rest of the book to read. It's full of imagination, original thought and truly believable characters (probably the hardest part for a fantasy).

If you like fantasy, this is for you.
