Hi
I'm new to this forum.
Actually I'm new to this web site.
Truthfully, I'm even new to writing!
But I have written a book; well I wrote it last year and since then have been looking for an agent (or publisher)
Hexult

As I started trawling the web for agents I realised it was a minefield and I would need to decide which ones to approach and to log the details so I didn't approach them again.

In the end I did something I do know about, I wrote a database which lists, evaluates, and records information on agents.

I stored about 190 agents, then scored them 1-10 for the likelihood of accepting teenage fiction, added their address, emails and web site if they had one. Of the 40-50 that accept childrens fiction I also listed their submission requirements.

This database is currently just sitting, I have found a couple of agents that seem interested.

So if anyone thinks they may be able to use it, just ask, I'm quite happy to send you a copy.

The catch, well the only catch is that if you use it and add any meaningfull amount of data to it, I'd like a copy of it back.

The database is written for Microsoft Access, so you'll need that on your PC.

Then just let me know what genre of book you're looking to publish and I'll set the database for that.

Hi Perrybond

I would be interested in a copy, I have only sent my MS to 4 agents so far, and these I just found at random on the web, which is never ideal. My email address is sep4475@ntlworld.com

Cheers

Database sent
Just checked, total is actually 276 agents!

If there is enough interest, I will happily expand the columns so that each agent can be rated to each genre.

HI Perrybond,

I'd be very grateful if you sent me that information too. It's hard work and very time consuming to sort through all the agent specifications. It's very generous of you to share what you've done. Thanks!

Please send it to:

I've sent a few copies out.
Let me know the genre you're aiming at and I can set it before sending.

I'd love this info. My e-mail address is demolinero@hotmail.com, and I'm interested in agents who are looking for commercial fiction.

Thanks so much for your generosity!

Hey guys, check out "agent query" online. You can peruse hundreds of agents for free, and narrow them down simply by clicking on the desired genre. The even specify which agents accept electronic submissions--lots of them too. I don't know what else anyone would need to sniff out potential agents. TJW

Sorry about the error in the above reply. I think Agentquery is one word.
