What's your Favourite Book or Film Moment?

Here's one of mine ..

Bananas, 1971, starring Woody Allen

Fielding Mellish runs off to a banana republic to impress his political activist girlfriend but winds up as a Fidel Castro-lookalike freedom fighter leading a guerrilla army fed on take-out grilled cheese sandwiches.

Fielding Mellish: “When is the revolution?”

Esposito: “Six months.”

Field Mellish: “Six months? I have a rented car!”

The moment in the Day of The Jackal by Freddy Forsysthe when the Jackal fires the dum dum at the melon and it goes Kabloooooooomm! I don't recall if it was in the book.

This was a good expectation set up for the reader - recommended for thriller writers!

Has to be the scene from Casablanca where the eager visa applicants arrange to pick up their papers from Louis, the Chief of Police:

Eager Applicants: We'll be at your office at six!

Louis: I'll be there at ten.

Barbara Scott-Emmett

The Bumble's End by Jimmy Bain - Comedy Crime Ebook

The Stiletto Heel and other stories - erotica ebook

I love that film.

I like this quote -

Captain Renault: What in heaven's name brought you to Casablanca?

Rick: My health. I came to Casablanca for the waters.

Captain Renault: The waters? What waters? We're in the desert.

Rick: I was misinformed.

I like J. Maarten Troost's Sex Lives of Cannibals and I just finished his Getting Stoned With Savages. These are two funny books about south sea life.
Best,

Forestry combines art and science, grapples with the ecological riddles of our time, but it's also a job. That's what I write about.

Speaking of Groucho

Chico: "Here's the book, it's a dollar"

Groucho: "Here's a ten, and shoot the change."

Chico: "I don't have change I'd have to give you nine more books"

Favorite movies:

Bull Durham - "Baseball may be a religion full of magic, cosmic truth, and the fundamental ontological riddles of our time, but it's also a job."

Almost Famous - "The only true currency in this bankrupt world... is what you share with someone else when you're uncool."

Waking Ned Devine - "Saturday evening, and the world is much the same as at any other point in the history of the world. The planets and stars orbit and spin, and do everything that is expected of them. On earth, as the sun sets, millions prepare for an event that is much less predictable. In 63 countries around the world, dozens of lottery machines spin hundreds of lottery balls. It takes seconds for the winning numbers to be selected... seconds for the losers to realize they've lost. But for the winners, it is an event that will undoubtedly change their lives forever... lucky sods!"

The Big Lebowski - "Nobody calls me Lebowski. You got the wrong guy. I'm the Dude, man."

Norm
