Native speakers are likely to use abbreviations and slang, and their sentences are likely to be short, especially in casual speech. The non-native speakers will sound more formal/stilted, with longer, carefully constructed but not necessarily correctly constructed sentences (unless they're not very good at the language, in which case you could go for the very basic "Me Tarzan, you Jane" sort of speech).

One way to get this consistent might be to translate the non-native speakers' words into a language that you speak but are not fluent in, without actually looking anything up. Then leave it a few days, and transliterate it back!
