Title : Don't Forget to Water the Roses

Read Feed: "I am sat watching television when I hear a scratch at the front door. Through the window I see a figure trying to force a key into the lock. When I open the door it is her, four years older but looking just the same. “I couldn’t get my key to work,” she tells me. “It doesn’t fit this door,” I say."

Author : Alasdair Kay

First, this is not my preferred reading. I wouldn't choose a book on this subject. That said, it was brilliant. The huge disappointment came when I ran out of words to read. The story has stayed with me and I want to see this in print. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I can see straight off that Alasdair Kay has gone to a lot of trouble to research everything that went into this book. In my review I stated the change of main characters could have been a speed bump but was not. Such was the sheer strength of writing it overcame this minor factoid, which wouldn't have been a problem in book form with a blurb on the back cover. I did receive all the info in the form of a good synopsis.

Ok, briefly slithering out of the closet, I evaluate many stories of all genre for possible publication in the course of a year in my professional capacity. The writing, story and the general delivery were of the calibre I would instantly pass for publication. So, folks, what the photon is this book doing sitting at #26? What were folks thinking? Straight fives from me without any hesitation.

Alasdair, please consider getting this submitted to agents right now. It is not a nearly there book if the rest holds up to this sample. It is there. Best of luck with it.

Thanks! As I'm sure you know, it's so encouraging to get positive reviews and youwriteon has been a real help in seeing how people view what I write and make those little tweaks and touches that you'd never think of otherwise.

And thanks also to Chickin - you were worried you were being pedantic in your review but for every grammatical and phrase change that you suggested I think I have revised each one - all very good points. You sometimes don't see these things! Thanks too for pointing me to the message board as I didn't realise this existed until then!

I've now made my email address public as I hadn't realised I might be missing out on these type of comments!

Good luck with your writing too and best wishes to you both!
