Spellbinding This is not usually a genre that interests me. I confess to finding history dull! However, I was unable to read this in one sitting and carried about with me reading bits when I could and resenting putting it down. It drew me in from the first page. The language is rich and the characters are engaging and amusing and utterly believable. I like being able to picture things as I read and your style of writing really delivered that and more. I can't give example of all that I liked, I'd be here all night, but I particularly liked 'the mist was like cobwebs in the air, tiny droplets clining to my face and hair...' and '(Trohar)buckled sharply to the south embraciing Ellasham in its curving arm'. Really visual language that just flows naturally. People get bogged down with imagery and detail and often overdo it or it really shows they are trying to hard, here is appear effortless and that is a wonderful talent to have. The narrative voice is a real 'storyteller's' voice and I was right back in the era smelling it and seeing it and hearing it. Great use of the senses employed in the writing. Good luck with it. Hope it goes far.
