I'm really happy to see my low scoring hasn't scuppered your chances at the No. 1 spot. Congratulations, Joe. Well done.

Wow, thank you very much Franck, that's very kind of you! I'm very excited to see it has made it, it's given me a surge of energy to read more assignments and write more of The Gatekeeper!

Watch this space

All the best,

Joe

Well, I've watched this space and now... things appear clearer.

Do they? Can you explain them to me? The Gate Keeper seems to have disappeared into the YWO void. Wasn't it at number one?

Hi, karen. I was equally puzzled over its sudden disappearance, especially since it had just gained the No.1 spot. I'd reviewed the piece and thought it needed a lot of work, so I hadn't rated it highly. I was bemused at its success. But, according to eltondiva in the 'Thank you' forum, the author had multiple IDs and has now been banned from the site as a result.

I'm now just as bemused and a touch dismayed at the lengths some folk will go to for a bit of 'success'. Have a good day!

I was sad to see The Gatekeeper had disappeared. I read the opening chapter and was enticed enough to make a note to read the whole submission when I had time.

How sad

So, blimey The Gatekeeper's author was attempting to cheat the system (apparently).

- what a bloody shame that such a talented writer felt the need to do that.

I'm quite upset by all this. What a waste!

Franck's comments sent me checking eltondiva's on the thx thread.
I left a message there suggesting it might be a good idea for HQ to let ALL member know of such bans and why?
(The message sounds like ED's got her own clique within the system, presumably boosting each others' scores & egos when they get the chance)
I'm sure greater transparency on how HQ deals with 'culprits' wd cut a lot of the moans out of the MB.
But then it wouldn't be the same, wd it?

When I first joined YWO I raised the subject of cliques and was told by several members not to give in to paranoia. We know that some here communicate with each other off site. Might be innocent, might not. But, as far as the TT goes, it's possible we're not simply competing with the talent of other writers, but with groups of writers who in one form or other are in cahoots. A group of writers have just now joined forces and got someone banned - deservedly so, perhaps. But that isn't the only way this influence can be applied. So to all you writers who have plummeted out of the TT - don't automatically assume it's your lack of talent that has let you down. Other forces may well be at work here.

I think you can tell just from looking at the Thank-You forum how often the same writers seem to thank each other. Of course there are cliques. You're bound to get them within any type of 'social' group.

But who cares? In the world outside YWO it means nowt. Pity those who get so hung up on it and would do anything to engineer themselves a chart place.
